Cultural Festival Celebrating Women's Empowerment in Mexico City

This week in Mexico City, a vibrant festival will celebrate women's empowerment through dance, music, and artistic expression. Expect performances by international artists, workshops, and fun activities throughout the city, culminating in lively concerts and cultural showcases.


On Friday, the 21st at 9:30 PM, there will be an event featuring soul, rock, and funk music with Ponche, including the participation of the guest band León Neón. During their tour in Mexico, this artist has performed in various cities such as Saltillo, Monterrey, Morelia, Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mérida, Isla Mujeres, Tulum, and Cancún, and is now heading to Mexico City.

Ponche's presentation will take place on Friday the 21st at 8 PM at Segundo Piso (Avenida Azcapotzalco 608, Azcapotzalco borough); on Saturday the 22nd at 8 PM at Gato Calavera (Xola 114, Álamos neighborhood, Benito Juárez borough), and on Sunday the 23rd at Soul Dread. During their participation, they will address the topic titled "The Beat of the Golden Essence: Movement and Feminine Charm."

In addition to the musical performances, the event will include competitions, conferences, circus acts, free workshops, and artistic exhibitions. Among the featured artists and performances are the Mexican body paint artist Hil Orozco, a beatbox showcase with Iván Loaiza, and the Spanish artist el JO, along with the Ensamble Sirocco, which utilizes traditional instruments in their music.

Additionally, the edition of "A Little Piece of the World: A Journey to the Heart of the Middle East in Mexico City" will take place, an intercultural festival that combines belly dancing with Middle Eastern folklore. This event will occur on March 8 at the Casa de la Cultura Alicia Santillana, in the Benito Juárez borough, featuring international artists such as Sadie Marquardt (USA), Mahyra Saad (Argentina), Kahina Manelli (Brazil), and Maryam Coach and Belem Glower (Mexico).

Another musical proposal comes from Argentine singer, guitarist, and composer María Florencia Silva, who blends grunge, rock, and mysticism. Additionally, groups like Horacio Reni, Sirena Blues, and Diableros will perform. Also, on Thursday the 20th, rock fans can enjoy Aby de Gyves at Bar Hobos, located in the Benito Juárez borough.

Regarding teaching and personal development, actor and theater director Felio Eliel will offer a "Public Speaking" workshop starting Saturday, February 22, at Espacio San Borja, aimed at helping those who face difficulties expressing themselves in front of audiences.

The musical agenda will continue with performances of various genres, from blues to rock, featuring both national and international artists at different locations across Mexico City.
